Logistics Manager required to take responsibility for day to day warehouse and transport activities for a major distributor with operations UK wide, working within a key Branch utilising lean practices within a distribution operation.
You will have management responsibility for approximately 25 warehouse and transport staff (including Supervisors and specialists in transport planning and logistics coordination), and will be involved in the efficient running of transport, warehouse and stock management activities. The fleet of 32 tonne vehicles is likely to be performing 2-3 runs each day, and for trips across the water to the Isle of Wight or Channel Islands, you will be using specialist third party suppliers.
You will be managing a substantial warehouse holding approximately £1 million of stock, so you will certainly be managing your time and that of your team to ensure you are working to efficient and cost-effective levels. Although you will be contracted to work 45 hours per week (Monday to Friday only apart from occasional training and annual stock taking) you will need to be flexible for some early starts and late finishes. You wll be a real lynch pin of the operation, liaising with all departments, so your ability to communicate will be a huge asset. Multi-tasking is another key requirement for the Logistics Manager, and if you can prevent problems rather than have to solve them, we would be very keen to hear from you.
Can you demonstrate your:
- Knowledge of transport legislation (if you hold CPC this would be of particular interest)
- Ability to enforce good health and safety practices
- Experience in managing efficient transport operations
- Strong communication, relationship-building and customer service skills
If so we would be very keen to hear from you. As Logistics Manager in this key branch, you will not need to make any significant changes, it's more a case of building on the legacy your predecessor has left (who has since been promoted into a Regional role) and maintaining the efficiencies and profitability of your operation.
Please apply today or call Sue Eustace or Lucy Patterson on 0117 959 2008 for further information. Your call will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.
